Personal information we collect

AusTV collects limited personal information. The specific information collected depends on how you use the service:

• Without an account: AusTV may store app preferences on your device, including your selected Australian TV region, channel settings, favourites, reminders, theme settings, and similar app preferences.
• With a registered account: AusTV may collect your name, email address, password, and account preferences so that settings can be synced between devices.
• Support and bug reports: If you contact us or send a bug report, we may collect your email address, the details you provide, app version, device information, diagnostics, purchase receipt status, selected region and channel preferences, and other troubleshooting information needed to investigate the issue.

Providing personal information is voluntary, but some features may not work without it. For example, cross-device sync requires a registered account.

Automatically collected data

AusTV may collect technical and usage information when you use the website or mobile apps, including IP address, installation and device identifiers, app version, device model, operating system version, selected time zone, push notification token and preference state if notifications are enabled, usage analytics, browser type and version, language, session records, and access dates and times.

This information is used to operate the service, improve performance and reliability, support advertising, troubleshoot errors, understand feature usage, and respect your device-level advertising and tracking preferences.

Advertising identifiers

AusTV is supported by in-app advertising unless you choose an eligible AusTV Plus purchase or subscription that removes advertising. Where permitted by your device settings and applicable law, AusTV and its advertising providers may use mobile advertising identifiers, such as the Android Advertising ID or Apple IDFA, to display ads, measure ad performance, limit repeated ads, and improve ad relevance.

On iOS, AusTV uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission where required before using data to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. You can reset or limit advertising identifiers through your device settings.

Cookies and analytics

The AusTV website uses Google Analytics and analytics cookies to measure pages visited, session activity, referral sources and clicks through to the App Store and Google Play. Store clicks measure download interest, not confirmed installations. We use this information to improve the website and understand which Australian TV guide pages are useful to visitors. Your colour-theme preference is saved in your browser's local storage. Password-reset pages are excluded from website analytics.

The AusTV mobile apps use Firebase Analytics for usage analytics and Firebase Crashlytics for crash reporting and diagnostics. These services may collect technical information such as app state, stack traces, device details, internal user or installation identifiers, and basic app properties. This information is used to improve app stability and service quality.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• provide Australian free-to-air TV guide information;
• sync your account, region, channels, favourites, and reminders;

• Analytics and diagnostics: Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Crashlytics.
• Advertising: Mobile advertising providers, including Google advertising services, to display and measure ads in the free version of the app.
• Push notifications: Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification Service.
• Purchases: Apple App Store and Google Play for in-app purchase and subscription processing.
• TV listing data: IceTV and related data providers for Australian electronic programme guide information.

Disclosure and overseas processing

AusTV does not sell personal information. We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to operate the service, use the providers listed above, respond to lawful requests, protect our rights, prevent misuse, or complete a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or restructure.

AusTV is operated from Australia and uses AWS infrastructure in the Australia region. Some information may also be processed outside Australia by service providers such as Google, Firebase, Apple, and other advertising or analytics providers. Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Data retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the service, maintaining account and purchase records, resolving support requests, improving reliability, satisfying legal obligations, and protecting against misuse.

Diagnostic, analytics, and support data may be retained in aggregated, de-identified, or anonymised form after it is no longer needed for an identifiable user.

Your rights

You may contact us at hello@austv.io to request access to personal information we hold about you or to ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading. We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request.

Children

AusTV is intended for users aged 18 and over. Users under the age of 18 may only use AusTV with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. AusTV does not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent. How we protect your information

AusTV takes reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
